Newlyn’s Maritime Heritage – Explore Newlyn

Join us for this 2 hour, circular walk around Newlyn’s Maritime Heritage, one of the Explore Newlyn experiences provided by Heritage Adventures, as part of our range of authentic, high-quality, guided tours, exploring West Cornwall’s rich history on foot or by boat.

Local archaeologist, Jeanette Ratcliffe, will guide you around Newlyn’s harbour and adjoining streets, describing its medieval origins and its evolution into the port you see today, highlighting the surviving physical evidence and historical events that tell the fascinating story of this fishing and seafaring community – Spanish raids, pilchard bonanza, arrival of the artists and ‘slum’ clearances.
