Newlyn’s Artistic Heritage – Explore Newlyn
Join us for this 2 hour, circular walk around Newlyn’s Artistic Heritage, one of the Explore Newlyn experiences provided by Heritage Adventures, as part of our range of authentic, high-quality, guided tours, exploring West Cornwall’s rich history on foot or by boat.
As you walk around the harbour and streets of this historic fishing port, your guide, local archaeologist Jeanette Ratcliffe, will describe the rise and falls of its fortunes (from pilchard bonanza to ‘slum’ clearances), with particular emphasis on its artistic heritage – brought about by the arrival of ‘plein air’ painters during the late 19th century.
