Bespoke heritage estuary tour by land and sea
One of a limited number of special experiences Heritage Adventures is offering in partnership with Fal River Cornwall, exploring the history and archaeology of the spectacular Fal Estuary.
Join us for one of our ‘Ferry & Foot’ adventures – small-group tours combining a return ferry trip with a circular shoreline walk – allowing you to both view historic and prehistoric sites from the water and visit them up close on land, guided by two local experts.
This all-inclusive, guided tour starts with a ferry journey from Falmouth Prince of Wales Pier, up through the stunning waters of Carrick Roads, to disembark at Trelissick Pontoon, from where your heritage site-seeing continues on foot.
A beautiful, wooded trackway along the foreshore of King Harry’s Reach and Chanels Creek leads you to Roundwood Quay – an 18th century quay for exporting copper ore, with an Iron Age promontory fort hidden in the trees behind.
After a picnic lunch (bring your own) and exploring the fascinating, multiperiod archaeological remains, your tour returns on foot to Trelissick House (with the option of visiting the National Trust cafe), followed by the return ferry journey back to Falmouth.

‘Come aboard’ and ‘step ashore’ to let your guides, professional archaeologist Jeanette Ratcliffe and ‘Cornish Bird’ storyteller Elizabeth Dale, share this fascinating heritage experience with you.
