A Tale of Two Rias – Fal & Helford Estuaries
One of a limited number of special cruises Heritage Adventures is offering in partnership with Fal River Cornwall, exploring the history and archaeology of the spectacular Fal Estuary on board the classic wooden ferry, the Moyana.
A tale of two rias…from the Fal Estuary to the Helford. Cruise from the larger flooded river valley (ria) in Falmouth Bay to its smaller twin, learning about their evolution through time.
Discover the wealth of archaeological sites and historic structures lining the estuary shores and open coast in between – from submerged forests, cliff castles, creekside churches, fish cellars, forts, ports and mines to quays, ‘hards’, ‘passages’ and a Frenchmen’s Creek – and hear tall tales and true stories associated with these sites and waterways.

‘Come aboard’ and let our guides, professional archaeologist Jeanette Ratcliffe and ‘Cornish Bird’ storyteller Elizabeth Dale, share this fascinating heritage with you.
