Creekside Archaeology – Exploring the Upper Reaches
One of a limited number of special cruises Heritage Adventures is offering in partnership with Fal River Cornwall, exploring the history and archaeology of the spectacular Fal Estuary on board the classic wooden ferry, the Moyana.
This cruise explores the upper reaches of the estuary, taking in sites tucked away within narrower channels and side creeks, where place names like Roundwood Quay, King Harry’s Reach and Malpas provide a tantalising hint of the many archaeological sites to be discovered – an Iron Age fort behind a later copper ore quay, a Henry VI chapel overlooking a medieval ferry crossing, a ‘bad-ford’ featured in the Cornish legend of Tristan and Iseult.

‘Come aboard’ and let our guides, professional archaeologist Jeanette Ratcliffe and ‘Cornish Bird’ storyteller Elizabeth Dale, share this fascinating heritage with you.
