Around Penzance Bay – Sea Quest
‘Step aboard’ for this 2-hour boat trip Around Penzance Bay, one of the exciting Sea Quests provided by Heritage Adventures, as part of our range of authentic, high-quality, guided tours, exploring West Cornwall’s rich history on foot or by boat.
As you cruise along the coast between Newlyn, Penzance, Marazion and the iconic St Michael’s Mount, and across the sea to Mousehole, learn about Penzance Bay’s fascinating past, stretching back into early prehistory, when people first began living along its shore.
With the help of your guide, professional archaeologist Jeanette Ratcliffe, discover the evidence for sea level rise and thousands of years of human activity – offshore flint deposits; submerged Neolithic forests; Iron Age hillforts, legendary tin-trading centre and post-Roman royal citadel; medieval markets, harbours, chapels and churches; a Benedictine priory and 12th century castle; and later fortifications, fishing & trading ports, mines and quarries, Victorian promenade and Art Deco lido.
